Steph's off doing-- something. Sokka doesn't know. He didn't know how much time he'd have to himself to use the radio, but he did it anyway and now...

Now, there's work to do. There's a storm coming and he needs to finish the igloo and move the supplies in, go hunting to make sure there's enough leather and fur for Steph to make good clothing for herself. He needs to smoke some meat and make jerky so they won't have to leave the igloo while it snows. He needs to...

To do anything else that won't make him think of what his sister said.

Sokka is from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I claim no ownership rights of the character.

I started playing Sokka in January of 2006 at the Livejournal community apharsites. The following is a list of all of his scenes from the next game this same version was played at, Livejournal community street_eden with small summaries attached. After this, this same version of Sokka is being played at shatterverse.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/3458.html
Sokka arrives in Eden and meets a few locals.

http://notanoptimist.livejournal.com/4105.html
Sokka's first night in Eden, and his first night alone in... a very long time.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/4316.html?thread=171484#t171484
Mel arrives with twins in tow. Sokka is beyond relieved and slightly too cheerful.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/5003.html?thread=207243#t207243
Plourr does not want to be BFF with Sokka.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/5920.html
Hana and Loo introduce themselves to Maniac. Sokka acts as their living stroller, for the moment.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/6458.html?thread=274234#t274234
Zuko arrives. He tests Sokka's patience and attempts at cheerful... a lot.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/6844.html
Mel is all leader-y and stuff. Sokka is actually kind of proud of her.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/7819.html?thread=366219#t366219
It's raining. Real rain.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/8377.html?thread=370617#t370617
Stephanie Brown comes to Eden. She and Sokka immediately become BFF, due to the presence of babies, superhero gadgets, and silliness.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/9202.html
Sokka and Steph <s>get tipsy</s> experiment with alcohol in the bar, and then there are contests with boomerangs that are awesome. Then Mel and Sokka are the best siblings ever, despite discussions on just how not-good Sokka is doing in Eden.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/9470.html
Zuko and Sokka chat a bit.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/9705.html?thread=498409#t498409
Sokka meets Simon, a telepath who chooses not to speak.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/10386.html?thread=520338#t520338
Marcus and Sokka have a morbid and creepifying conversation regarding weaponry and community.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/10883.html?thread=543875#t543875
Sokka meets Robin. Robin doesn't like him. This will get to be a theme.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/11249.html
Sokka and Steph are my absolute favorites. Barbara Gordon walks in on Sokka training and they sit down to have a planning session.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/11580.html?thread=608316#t608316
Zuko and Sokka are my favoritest brothers.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/12182.html?thread=654230#t654230
Eden's generator suddenly decides to power up.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/13268.html?thread=705236#t705236
When the generator turned on, locked doors also opened. Mel, Sokka, and the twins get together to discuss a plan of action - and the bodies that were found in the open hotel rooms.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/13763.html?thread=758723#t758723
Claire Bennet arrives. Sokka and Loo are there to greet her and try to keep her from freaking out too badly over being inexplicably and irreversibly transported to an alien dimension.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/14594.html
The Assault. The citizens of Eden finally find out what's been making all that noise.
The entire scene is linked here, though Sokka is only in one or two threads. Note the rooftop one for Sokka-Claire interaction, though.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/15512.html?thread=936344#t936344
Sokka and Claire clear things up... or seem like it. Really, not a lot is said but all is forgiven anyway.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/16813.html?thread=1013677#t1013677
Zuko is getting better under Eden's sun, better enough to start training. Sokka might not be the best sparring partner, but he's there all the same.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/17292.html
Mel and Sokka are eighty shades of awesome. Then Steph and Sokka have a flour fight of hilarity.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/17775.html?thread=1101423#t1101423
Sokka meets Cassandra Cain... despite alluding to already having done so in earlier scenes. Don't ask me. Anyway, they spar and are neat.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/18127.html?thread=1249231#t1249231
Coffee scenes! Claire asks Sokka for a favor. Sokka and Faye catch up - I find this scene really interesting because, if you've been paying attention to Sokka's attitude and moods, this thread really shows how much he's drawn into himself and his "don't think about it" attitude.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/18273.html?thread=1297761#t1297761
Sokka, Cass, and Hana catch up. This scene is adorable - mostly because Cass has a tiny crush on Sokka that he is mostly unaware of.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/18787.html?thread=1387107#t1387107
Mel and Sokka discuss Hana, Loo, and the girls' eventual plot to take over the world.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/20430.html
Cass practices conversation with Sokka and does quite well. Sokka and Steph prove even further that they are eternal BFFs. Then Barbara comes over to recruit Sokka into actually planning on getting some work done!

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/20617.html
Claire's first training session with Teacher Sokka. It goes... less than well, after Claire has some triggering things to say in regards to her healing abilities. Triggering for Sokka, that is.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/21390.html
As it turns out, Sokka methods of coping with Eden have been even worse than anyone suspected. And unfortunately, Claire is the one to discover what those methods are.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/22166.html?thread=1638294#t1638294
Steph has the flu! And is... training in the middle of it. Stupid Bat kids.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/23188.html
Revan introduces himself to Sokka. He now makes up 1/3 of Eden's Engineering Team! Yay!

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/23511.html
Sokka finally finishes the fire-resistant playpen for his nieces. Sadly, he finishes it while both girls and Zuko are all sick with the flu. Amid fire-sneezes and smoke-sniffles, he and his brother chat.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/23752.html
Sokka finds Claire to half-assedly apologize and offer another training session. This one goes much more successfully. Also, Tim is a creepy stalker until he decides to engage in some conversation practice of his own.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/24657.html?thread=1764433#t1764433
Steph and Sokka have a midnight mini drinking party in the bar.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/24938.html
Another training session with Claire.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/25254.html?thread=1806502#t1806502
Maniac and Sokka talk about their pasts.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/25543.html?thread=1815239#t1815239
Mel and Sokka discuss family and life, while Hana and Loo occupy themselves with toys.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/25863.html
This scene addresses a lot. Steph and Tim's issues with each other, Tim's issues with Sokka, Steph's issues with drinking, Sokka's issues with drinking, how Sokka has turned his work-building into a livable space for himself, and how in the end he and Steph are still BFFs.

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/26273.html
Claire helps Sokka learn to handstand and they chat without training or fighting. I'm so proud of them!

http://community.livejournal.com/street_eden/26392.html
Steph and Sokka are bored and giggly.
For the record, shiny red vicious monsters are not cool. This is what Sokka thinks as he huddles in his tent, carefully attempting to stitch up his various wounds with a bone needle that's too large and too rough to do anything but hurt like hell.

On the other hand, there's a storm coming tonight. As soon as he's finished bleeding to death, he's going to find out if the carcass outside can be skinned and used as weather-proof covering for his tent until he has enough ice for an igloo.

Good News: it can.

The thing about running away from your problems is that you actually have to get away. It helps if you're actually certain of what your problem is exactly, too, which Sokka... sort of does. Kind of. He thinks it has to do with family. Or maybe just him.

Either way, it was best for him to leave, to put as much distance between himself and the people he loves as possible.

And it's hard to do that when Mel makes him check in every evening through the radio. He shouldn't take advantage of the fact that his sister can't leave the farm, or her kids behind, but... well, he's taking advantage of that fact. Besides, he still checks in like she wanted, it's just not verbal. But there was a reason why Wash made him learn Morse Code back at the apartments, and there's a reason why he bored Mel into reading it one day, too, and communicating Doing fine, miss you all, tell girls hi every night without actually having to speak to anyone just might be that reason.

Could be.

The longer he lives in the snow and ice, the more of his original possessions are slowly replaced. The plastic tent from Sport Chalet is put away, while a small hut is put together out of bone and sinew, draped over with the shiny red hide-- which was then covered by polarbearfox fur. The last thing Sokka needed was a reflective neon hut that could be seen from space. He's trying to blend in, hide, remember what life was like before...

Before.

Solid land breaking up into ice floes, icebergs bobbing here and there, everything covered in a thick layer of snow, making the breaks in the land where the ocean is darkest all the more obvious. Clear blue sky is incredibly pale for how cold it is and the clouds are in whisps, building up in the distance like there may be another fall of snow soon.

Sokka is staring out the window while Zinda flies, not talking. There's too much to think about.

Idly, he fingers a bracelet on his left wrist, made before he left. The thick leather cord wraps four times around his wrist, on the outside of his wraps, and is threaded through the holes carved in a small disc of blue stone with very careful carvings put in.

It's his now.

Ice, snow, wind, ocean, stone. As soon as the plane's gone, it should start feeling like the tribe again. He hasn't seen it in almost four years, three years since he saw the Northern Tribe. If nothing else, he shouldn't be able to tell the difference just from living so differently for so long.

But it's all wrong. Everything is wrong.

The placement of the hills. The color of the water. How the clouds move, the consistency of the snow. The first time he sees an animal and it's a rabbit - not a rabbitseal, not a rabbitfox, not a rabbibear. It's just a rabbit.

It's as wrong as everything else has always been, since he stumbled over that root.

And that feeling of being alone and alien is getting to be eerily comfortable.

The sporting goods store he raided in Metropolis before coming here labeled the coat he's wearing as a "parka," but Sokka found that more insulting than anything. Synthetic fabric filled with goose down, slick and shiny and brightly colored. No fur, no leather, the designs are meaningless, made to look "cool."

But it's warm. Like the sleeping bag, the mittens and pants and boots, the tent. He has a backpack with flint and his knife, a small portable lamp, some jerky to start him off.

When he was a boy, he lived in a small village. They were protected from the elements by a wall of snow and ice around them to block the wind, small igloos to keep huddled families warm at night, the communal hut made of leather to shield them from the worst storms. They hunted with clubs and spears in groups of ten and twenty, their clothes were made from the flesh of their kills, constructed skillfully with bone needles and stitched with twine, attached with bone buttons. They cooked with pots and pans carved from the blue stone of the earth. There was a system and community and skills that were shared throughout the tribe.

He has none of that now.

He'll have to make do.

It is fucking hard to make do.

The tent is set up easily enough and he even manages to find a spot that's cut off enough from the wind that a fire is possible. Hunting takes some work but he remembers the basics of tracking and has had more experience with his weapons in the last five years than he'd like to admit. That's not so hard.

The difficult part comes when he's killed the beast, an enormous polarbearfox with a blunt snout and stubby tail, skinned and separated the meat, and has to do something with the skin. He's never been good at sewing, though he technically knows how to do it. The skinning is messy but he gets out the knife anyway, hoping to salvage it into a blanket, to start with.

And realizes he has no needle.

Or thread.

How the hell did they do this in the village?

A bone needle. Thread made of sinews.

Bloody fucking fingertips from making the needle and sharp, angry cursing as the fur skin gets more and more ragged the more he works with it.

If he ever sees his grandmother again, Sokka is going to worship her at her feet.

And then ask her to sew for him.

Cooking is easier. The first day he arrived, Sokka filled a bucket with icy water on the coast, then brought it back to his camp, hanging it up high on a post just outside of his tent. Over the next few days, the water evaporated and left salt behind. And salting meat, drying it out into jerky... that is one lesson he will never forget.

And while it might not be seal, the warped polarbearfox meat is still delicious. He eats more than he needs to, then crawls inside his synthetic tent to sleep in his growing collection of furs.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/4980.html
Sokka arrives in Apocalyptica. Luckily, he finds Aang first. Aang leaves out some Important Information.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/5611.html
Sokka runs into Zuko. There is lots of bitching and some angst.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/5804.html
Sokka meets Hotaru. They confuse each other. This scene is dumb.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/5953.html
Sokka meets Wash, who is crazy but knows stuff, and freaks him out by asking to be his apprentice.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/6418.html
Sokka meets Mel. They bitch about Firebenders and stuff.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/7022.html
Zuko throws a flaming SpongeBob at Sokka. This is the Best Scene Ever.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/7747.html?thread=144451#t144451
Sokka and Mel talk siblings - mostly Katara

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/8993.html
Zuko opts out of training in favor of a mall excursion. Sokka is invited yeay! Also, Sokka tries to be nice and Zuko is socially retarded.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/9615.html
Sokka and Aang discuss Zuko while looking for cans.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/11984.html
Katara comes to Apocalyptica. Her reunion with Sokka is very touching.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/12302.html
Sokka and Zuko meet up again and head off toward the mall. Zuko lets Sokka know that his sister participated in some Acidbending but leaves out a few key details.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/15405.html
Aang has questions, Sokka has candy, Zuko has emo.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/16198.html
Sokka meets Harper, who is dying. Sokka gets optimistic and stuns the world.
Spoon teaches Sokka to box.
Mel and Sokka talk about Harth. Mel is excited. Sokka worries.
Katara has a mini-breakdown, Sokka cuddles.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/18118.html
Sokka meets Angua - when she's not human. Hi, doggie!

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/19624.html?thread=692648#t692648
Zuko and Sokka are almost friendly. This scene is Super Hilarious with a dash of Very Touching and a splash of Super Angsty and the first step toward friendship/brotherhood stuff. (also, this totally foreshadows Sokka's obsessiveness toward Katara and his uselessness when he fails her later on)

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/19806.html
Sokka, Harper, and Wash plan to build a water purifier.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/20878.html
Mel and Sokka spar, but not very well. Ron Weasley educates Sokka on surnames. Zuko runs Sokka absolutely ragged through training.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/22733.html
Sokka consoles Katara after she finds a dead body - more foreshadowing. Sokka and Biff chat about nothing.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/23094.html
Sokka has a quick question for Zuko about the body. Then he runs away before the pyre starts.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/23094.html
Sokka and Mel wope about things that killed the body, etc. They are 100% brother-sister here and it's adorable/super sad.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/25235.html?thread=922771#t922771
Sokka and Wash are cute and father-son-ish-kinda. Wash introduces Sokka to (a sketch of) Serenity and there is much joy.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/25521.html
Spoon gets Sokka a bike. Sokka considers proposing.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/26183.html?thread=1004871#t1004871
Sokka and Harper are adorable and then abruptly angst-ridden.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/26546.html?thread=1016498#t1016498
Zuko and Sokka are cute and discuss trust issues as well as bicycles.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/27145.html?thread=1055497#t1055497
Katara angsts. Sokka ruins it.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/27432.html
Sokka has a super lame conversation with Simon Tam. Also, the shortest scene involving Shikamaru EVER.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/27710.html
Sokka meets Harth. Harth asks to court Katara. Sokka threatens, but allows.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/28568.html
Sokka and Harper discuss pyres. Sokka tells how his mother died.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/30894.html?thread=1189294#t1189294
The boys talk and stuff about trust and sides and fathers and cute things. (boys being Zuko and Sokka)

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/31634.html?thread=1201298#t1201298
Sokka checks with Mel to make sure Harth won't be bad news for Katara.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/33566.html
Sokka chats with Iroh before getting kicked out for uncle-nephew bonding time.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/35645.html
Random scene with Meng, some chatting with Katara about boys.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/36294.html
OMG MAGOG. Harper scares the shit out of everyone, Spoon is awesome, Zuko gets gimpy and Sokka is cool. ALSO, LEMURS.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/36567.html?thread=1456855#t1456855
Sokka isn't really necessary in this scene. He gets to say stuff, though!

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/37061.html
Sokka and Wash talk, Harper goes crazy and falls asleep. (or something)

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/38447.html
Sokka finds a second body, Wash gives him a shiny present.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/38153.html?thread=1632777#t1632777
Sokka and Harper are heartbreakingly adorable - Harper is established as a father-figure and there is angst about him dying soon of radiation poisoning.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/40358.html?thread=1692326#t1692326
Sokka explains Harper's craziness to Zuko, Simon discusses the second body.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/43102.html?thread=1809246#t1809246
Mel and Sokka are bored. They discuss boomerangs and very carefully do not discuss their sibling-like relationship.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/44079.html
Harper fixes himself. Sokka and Ed discover they hate each other, but that's not as important.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/44902.html?thread=1874534#t1874534
Sokka tells Katara about Harper and the second body and then they're adorable at each other.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/47647.html?thread=1969951#t1969951
Sokka and Wash are made of precious.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/49107.html?thread=2026707#t2026707
Sokka gets frustrated with Ron Weasley, who is being all pessimistic because he's useless without magic and he's not very special. Sokka is also too dense to realize the irony of this.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/49285.html?thread=2062213#t2062213
Harper finally remembers he used to have a gun somewhere around here. Sokka isn't particularly willing to give up the location and is also thoughtless.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/51547.html
Harth has a surprise for Sokka. It's not pleasant.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/52057.html
Harth delivers his end of the deal.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/52762.html
The heroic rescue!

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/55469.html
Harper pauses on the way back to get some vital information from Sokka.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/56194.html
A mostly-successful return home with a mostly-successful healing and a bit of crazy, just for fun.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/57170.html
Sokka wakes up, healed and ready to talk.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/60188.html
Zuko has questions.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/60845.html
Sokka tells Katara who really attacked him. More foreshadowing.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/62367.html?thread=2551199#t2551199
Sokka makes an attempt at comforting Zuko while Mel is still missing. Zuko ruins it by being a fucking moron.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/63449.html?thread=2581977#t2581977
Harper and Sokka talk and stuff. Harper is wise in the ways of Men Are Assholes-ism.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/64894.html
Katara and Zuko start fighting, SOKKA TO THE RESCUUUUUUE.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/66688.html?thread=2745984#t2745984
Sokka apologizes to Zuko and there's awkwardness and stuff.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/72389.html
Sokka and Quinn chat.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/74035.html?thread=2972211#t2972211
Sokka's sister is pretty. Sokka is both baffled and unnerved by this.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/84686.html?thread=3456462#t3456462
Zuko and Sokka tease each other about love and stuff. Also, Zuko offers to teach Sokka swordplay and accidentally predicts the outcome of Avatar S3.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/84686.html?thread=3470286#t3470286
Mel finds out what the scars on Sokka's temples are.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/85503.html
Harth comes back for Katara, and to deliver a message.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/87681.html
Katara relays the message. Mel takes it less than well, this is the beginning of the crazy that eventually eats Katara's brain.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/87873.html
Sokka and Zuko discuss stupid women, what to do about Katara and Mel, and the futility of trying to protect people who don't want to be protected.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/88887.html?thread=3611447#t3611447
Sokka goes to discuss vampires with Angua and finds out more about her than he bargained for.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/91607.html
Katara tries to argue with Sokka about how to fight Harth. This scene is cute, but also depressing.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/93569.html?thread=3836801#t3836801
Zuko calls a small group meeting to discuss possible strategies against Harth's Hive. Lots of stuff is said and felt; beginning of crap relationship between Zuko and Methos; Katara continues to be crazy as hell; Sokka gets praised and stuff.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/96274.html?thread=3966226#t3966226
Spoon and Sokka discuss weapons and stuff.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/97315.html
Sokka and Ed chat and hate each other less!

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/99011.html?thread=4033475#t4033475
Harper and Sokka discuss future engineering plans - also, septic tanks.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/101313.html?thread=4120513#t4120513
More brotherly bonding stuff - Sokka and Zuko discuss Harth, trains, and boomerangs. Sokka swallows his tongue and Zuko decides that the Tribesman really needs to get a girlfriend.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/102748.html?thread=4179804#t4179804
Magog Drill Part One: Ron's Fault.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/109497.html
The complete list of what the Apocalypticites are Not Allowed To Do. D'aww.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/113981.html?thread=4599101#t4599101
Sokka and Angua make up and are bestest friends again.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/112395.html
Making Ron feel better becomes abruptly pointless. Ed makes another cameo for building stuffs, Katara is annoying, Sokka rushes around doing stuff. Also: Zuko is teh_captured.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/113249.html?thread=4581473#t4581473
A meeting is held to plan for Zuko's rescue. Sokka only says one line and then disappears into The Mun Was Probably Busy Land but this is still important.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/113249.html?thread=4637281#t4637281
Sokka and Katara are cute and love each other - Sokka makes her promise to come back from the Hive alive.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/119368.html
Sokka and Katara's issues are escalaaaaaaating.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/118669.html
I have no idea why I wasn't around for most of this plot, but a lot of stuff was skipped before Sokka comes in again in this scene. Sokka and Zuko are brotherly and cute again.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/120431.html?thread=4851823#t4851823
Angua gets outed. Sokka's around for the tail end of it.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/124511.html
Katara is a huge, flaming retard.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/126623.html
Sokka goes up to the roof to have a mope-fest and ends up getting distracted by Kaylee and Krauser.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/128474.html?thread=5208282#t5208282
Just more evidence that Spoon is love and I miss Cam hard.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/129546.html
Sokka and Katara argue some more. Discussion of Paige's powers and also, activities.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/161207.html
Paige and Sokka are caught cuddling in the engineering room by Harper.

http://flyingsister.livejournal.com/2405.html
This is weirdly out-of-order. I think it was supposed to be the night after Zuko and Sokka discuss their family and Zuko asks if Katara ever set her friends on fire, but I have no idea the order of other things after that. Anyway, Katara and Sokka are cute and discuss things, including romantical.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/163140.html
Sokka and Mel giggle and discuss babies and air balloons.

http://notanoptimist.livejournal.com/1131.html
Paige discovers that Sokka is sexy. Several people come to comfort him; Paige is the only one that gets kisses. Mel gets yells which is kind of entertaining-- for the muns, anyway.

http://notanoptimist.livejournal.com/1452.html
Sokka dreams.

http://notanoptimist.livejournal.com/1647.html
Sokka wakes Paige up rudely after his dream.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/169482.html?thread=6693642#t6693642
Sokka and Mel apologize to each other and then beat each other up. This is after Katara informs Jim that she's still in love with Harth and... really makes me want to catalogue her scenes, too, so you can see her complete fall into Crazy Land.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/306021.html?thread=13337445#t13337445
CRISIS!!!!! ...which leads to an opportunity for Mel and Sokka to make up.

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/311304.html?thread=13657352#t13657352
OMG SUKI!

http://community.livejournal.com/apharsites/311687.html?thread=13688967#t13688967
Dr House is rummaging through the infirmary. Also, Sokka still has a tiny, if forced-unconscious, crush on Kaylee and this scene makes total sense of it.
If this were Apocalyptica or Eden or even Kansas itself, if Mel and the babies were at the house with them, Sokka would have woken up in a dogpile of limbs and baby drool. But with Mel and her daughters off with Erin for some sisterly bonding, Sokka wakes up in a rock bunker made by yet another Toph that doesn't recognize him with five feet between himself and the other occupant of the room.

A glance at Steph and a smirk given for the tangled blonde hair hanging in her face, Sokka grins a little and gets to his feet.
S_E: First night in Eden

There were stars above him for the first time in a year.

Sokka was on the roof of the hotel, in a place called Eden, far enough from his home and the world of Four Nations that it was liable to break his heart, and he was looking at stars.

It must have been a new moon, Sokka thought, as he lay back against the concrete with his head propped up on the ledge, his eyes tracking constellations. It must be a new moon because he can't see it, just the stars, just thousands and millions of stars, each one a tiny sun, he'd learned so much about them from Wash and Harper and now, for the first time in a year, he was seeing them again and...

It must have been a new moon.

He couldn't see the moon.

Strange, he starts to think, little images worming their way into his head. Strange that the first night he's seen the stars in a year, it just happens to be the one night a month where the moon is black, where it hides itself from the light. Odd that it isn't slivered somewhere, waxing or waning, it's just-- gone. Black.

Hiding.

The moon is hiding from him.

He'd spent the night with Paige last night, as he had been starting to do more and more often. He didn't want Katara to move out of the first floor and she was still wary about him doing anything around her - looking at her. So he spent nights with Paige to keep his sister in one place, because spending the night with Paige made him forget his sister and that, sometimes, more often than he would like to admit to, made him happy. Paige made him happy, her smile and her mind and her words and her arms and her-- everything. He was happy, he was hopeful, he had a tentative engagement that would take years to fulfill and he was all right with that because Paige was and she mattered most to him.

Most.

He walked out of her room that morning with those thoughts in his head and hit a brick wall.

And now there are stars and a sky and his eyes are scanning the black, picking out all the little stars and he is looking because he suspects that maybe, just maybe, someone who gave up her happiness for the world's is angry he didn't mourn a little longer, hurt a little harder, miss a little more.

Sokka looks at the sky and the moon is hiding from him.

Information on Sokka Pt. Deux

History: Sokka as I'll be playing him is not purely from Avatar, but is also a refugee from the now-dead LJ RPG Apharsites. For the first fifteen and a half years of his life, Sokka was a member of the Southern Water Tribe in the World of Four Nations. When he was very young, the Fire Nation raided his home and most of his tribe, including his mother, was killed off. Shortly after, all the men of the tribe left home to join the fight against the Fire Nation, leaving Sokka to be the "man of the tribe" at a very young age. He is fiercely protective of his younger sister, though she has become a very powerful Waterbender, and also of their friend Aang, though he recognizes that with the Avatar's powers, there's only so much he can really look out for the guy - and Katara's better at it anyway.

After finding Aang, things got a little more complicated. Katara wanted to follow and help and Sokka refused to stay behind if she was to go. The next few months were spent traveling the world, fighting The Good Fight, and generally being a pain in the Fire Nation's ass. Sokka himself found a very comfortable niche as The Idea Guy, finding in travel that what he really enjoyed was being an inventor and the plan-maker than the warrior he'd been assigned to when his father left.

And then-- things changed. Just after they'd won a major point in the Northern Tribe against the Fire Nation, Sokka turned a corner-- and ended up in what would eventually be called Apocalyptica. In the year that followed, many things changed for him, the most noticeably being his relationships. Fire Prince Zuko became a close friend, often called brother, and his wife and daughters (Melaka Fray, Hana and Loo) became his sister and nieces. His relationship with Katara became strained to the breaking point, though they have not quite been torn apart yet, they are certainly avoiding each other now more than ever before. Also, Sokka met A Girl, one Paige Guthrie who did one thing none of the other women in Sokka's life have done consistently: she went out to fight and she came back, again and again. And always to him.

A couple things that should be noted here: one of the major dangers in Apocalyptica was Mel's younger brother, Harth, an insane, manipulative vampire. His first act against his sister was against the person who he saw as taking his place - Sokka. Through trickery and just being a better fighter, Sokka was beaten near death and then left for Harth's accomplices, the parasitic Magog. If not for Mel and a few others from the township, he would have been infested and very painfully died. Sokka came back from this experience with a few things, the most notable being his scars - there is an H carved into his right temple, and an F carved into his left, as well as a vampire bite that is usually hidden by the bone necklace he wears - the much longer hair that he's grown out to take attention away from said scars, and a desire to be an inventor and a warrior both so he's never bested like that again.

Personality: Sokka is a Dork. No matter how accomplished he became (an engineer, a warrior), he is the sort of boy who would trip over his own feet, roll down a hill, fall in a heap and then jump up and take a bow in front of the onlookers before tearing away again. He is not very good at moping around, and when he does it, he takes very great care to make sure he is alone and that no one will be able to walk in on him. Sokka prefers laughing over crying, and if the latter must be done, then crying WHILE laughing is the next best choice.

He's fiercely protective of those he loves to no end. Despite, what seemed to him, Katara's glaring and obvious mistakes over and over again, he was the only one of the entire township that never completely gave up on her - even when he knew he probably should. Only recently, when the two of them had a chance to kill Harth once and for all and she convinced him not to, has Sokka refused to take the fall for Katara or to stick up for what she believes in. However, this protectiveness also covers Zuko, Mel, their daughters, his girlfriend Paige, and a variety of close friends. Katara was at the top of that last but-- that's debatable now. However, Sokka will tear after any of these people in a heartbeat if he believes they need help.
Wank every other <s>month week day</s> hour.
2. Players who participate in such wank who have the nerve to call others childish.
3. Being the unofficial game-therapist for more players than should be necessary. I would mind less if I hadn't been the one to specifically request a Player Relations mod, if one hadn't actually been "hired," and if people didn't still come to me, a player with no title or rank, for help or discussion.
4. The number of times an IC situation has caused OOC drama.
5. That there is no limit to the amount of pups a mun can play at a time.
6. Blanket Statements
7. "Anonymous letters."

Things You should Know About Me:

1. This is the third RP game I have ever been in. Ever.
2. I am one of the younger players.
3. I do go to school full time.
4. During winter and summer breaks, I work full time, waking at 5AM and going to bed at 9PM. I do not work the standard M-F work-week, but I do get 40 hours a week.
5. In every relationship I have ever had, RL or online, I have always, always been the one people come to with their problems. I don't mind this, but I do worry that I'm not always the right person to be helping them.

6. I have known Mandy (Zuko, Hellboy, Paige, Ed, Harth, House) for two years and can count on the fingers of one hand how many days we have gone without speaking to each other either online or on the phone.

I leave the last one separated like that because I have a feeling a lot of people will be hung up on that for a while.

Here's the thing, Apharsites: I'm here to play. I don't care what you, the mun, wants. I don't care what you, the mod, wants. I don't even care what you, the pup, wants. I want a game, I want a plot, I want to tag someone and get a scene. Yes, it's true, the majority of plots run so far have been planned an executed by non-mods.

You know what? I don't care.

We have a meeting-plot right now concerning Harth Fray, To Soul Or Not To Soul, with a side order of Katara and Sokka, To Exile or Not To Exile. We have a Grail Quest to find the Holy Cup of Christ. We have a MALL EXPEDITION. All run by non-mods, all played by a wide variety of pups! I LOVE IT.

Can we continue it?

Not, apparently, without wank.

I love this game. I love playing Sokka, obviously, because he's changed so much from his canon. I don't want to leave.

But when I get online and the first thing I hear is Mandy's taking over the game, Rue isn't modding, Roger's whining again, Saphie's being OOC, you know what I want to do?

Leave. And get the hell away from all of you people that, for whatever reason, care more about the players than the game. We have a GAME. If your character is disgruntled, LET THEM BE DISGRUNTLED, but for god's sake, do you really have to turn an IC issue into an OOC one? Does it really, honestly matter if Zuko wants a dictatorship? Can you not play with that? Does it really matter if Methos challenges him and builds a democracy? Can Methos not handle the government of Apocalyptica going his way? Can Zuko not suck it up and deal with what comes?

I'm sick of this. I don't need this. I'm here to play and this is one of the last times that I will sign on to chat and immediately get messages about the newest wank.

Would you get this upset over Monopoly?

He didn't want to talk to Katara and he doubted she even wanted to look at him at this point. He couldn't talk to Mel or Zuko - not about marriage, not about what Katara wanted to do. He wasn't going to search out Paige when he was the last one to speak. He said his piece and she knew what he wanted. He would wait for her.

She was worth waiting.

So he's out from the apartments now, up on the wall, boomerang and club at his back, knife at his belt. He's not surveying, though, sitting cross-legged on the floor. He's just looking up at the sky, the dark, thick clouds.

This isn't the Southern Tribe, with its stars and its icy, clean winds, the flurry of snowfall.
OOC info on Avatar's favorite simple guy!

Name: Sokka

Age: Fifteen

Parents: Kota, mother unnamed

Birthplace and circumstances of birth, relationship w/ parents: Born in the South pole, Sokka was the first child and oldest son. He had a good relationship with parents and the rest of his tribe and was an outgoing, inquisitive boy.

Childhood, siblings: His sister, Katara, is one year younger than him. While they fought and had the general sibling-rivalry over toys and things, he loves her unconditionally and would protect her with his life. After losing both his mother and father, Katara is all the family he has left, and he had once promised his father to take care of her. He's devoted and protective of her to an annoying degree, but it's meant entirely with the best of intentions.

School/kind of education: He was trained by his father and the other men of his tribe to defend himself, with his own hands, with a club, a boomerang, or a spear. He knows how to hunt and fish, to track, to cook, and to set up camp. He knows basic arithmetic, but nothing fancy. Since traveling with the Avatar, he's come into contact with several scientists who have given him tips on what he /really/ wants to do - invent and work with machinery. He's a mechanic, at heart - he just doesn't know it yet.

Relationships (friends, enemies, etc.): Katara, his sister; Aang, the Avatar and a very close friend; Zuko, prince of the Fire Nation who's hunting Aang, associates any member of the Fire Nation with the raid on his tribe that killed more than half the population, hates him and tries to keep Katara and Aang from him; Kota, his father, worships him, wants to be just like him (hunter, warrior, protector), doesn't want to disappoint him, misses him fiercely; his mother, unnamed, she was a source of comfort and safety, but he didn't spend as much time with her as his father; Suki, warrior priestess of Avatar Kyoshi, had a crush on Sokka, taught him to fight, he likes her but is completely oblivious to her affections; Yue, princess of the Northern Water Tribe, engaged to another man but fell in love with Sokka, he loved her too, died to save her people but promised to be with him always - in spirit and (in an Avatar sort-of-way) in the moon; Teo's father, unnamed, who was an engineer at the Northern Air Temple and took Sokka on as a sort of apprentice in inventing and mechanics.

Bad habits/Character flaws: Since becoming the "man of his tribe," Sokka is pessimistic - though he likes to call it realistic. He doesn't want to shoot everyone's hopes down, but he doesn't want them being silly or idealizing when reality is trying to smack them in the face. He likes to act before thinking and this generally gets him hurt and blamed for his own stupidity. Sokka also doesn't always know when to quit and can easily, unintentionally hurt someone's feelings by letting his mouth run. He can also be incredibly unobservant, usually in terms of people and what they think of each other.

Physical appearance: Dark-skinned, the Water Tribes of Avatar are based on the culture of both Russia and the Inuit tribes of North America, but their coloring tends to lean toward the darkness of the Inuits. Sokka is dark-skinned, dark-haired, and dark-eyed, average height for a fifteen year old boy, but lean and built with muscle. His life hasn't been easy, born and raised on the ice, followed by running around the world with the Avatar, training, hunting, and running to survive, and his body shows it. /He/ doesn't, though, either wearing his robes and pants that fully cover, or adding a full-blown /parka/ to the whole look. There has never been a canon!shirtless-Sokka, and it's unlikely he'd suddenly start now.

Hair Color: Dark brown

Eye Color: Blue

Disabilities: None, physically, other than being a /capable/ warrior, but nothing great.

Jewelry/Ornamentation: He wears a necklace of wide stones that looks more like a thick choker, most likely made of bone. It hasn't been explained why canonly, but he never takes it off. <s>If it's bone, could it be made from the first kill a boy makes since other Water Tribe boys wear one, too?</s>

Class: Peasantry

Rogue/Honest: Honest

Soldier/Leader: Both. He leads naturally when it comes to his small group of Katara and Aang, but is quick to follow in a crisis if it looks like someone else knows better - usually.

Merchant/Laborer: Laborer

Teacher/Student: Student, at the moment.

High or Low-born: Low.

Educated or Ignorant: Educated in common-sense and street-smarts, but has little to no formal education. He can read, write, and do basic arithmetic and recitations of his people's legends, but don't expect him to just rattle off the poetry of the Air Nomads.

Religious/Skeptical: Definite skeptic, but religious at the same time. In Avatar, some religion really /has/ been proven - and right before Sokka's eyes. You'll never be able to convince him there /isn't/ a Moon Spirit.

Clothing: A light blue leather robe, belted at the waist, darker blue pants and calf-length boots (waterproof). There are wraps on his arms from elbow to wrist, covering where the sleeves of his robe leave off. When cold, he pulls on his parka a thick, light blue leather coat, fur-lined with a hood and gloves/mittens that have a single space for his smallest, ring, and middle finger and individual places for both his index finger and thumb, leather and fur-lined - perfect for this sub-freezing days in the South Pole!

Weaponry: A club, possibly carved from bone, maybe two feet long - a handhold has been worn into it by his own hand over the years, and it's thicker at the top and round, easier to swing. A boomerang that looks metal, sharpened to the point that he could probably slice a hair on it, jagged teeth on one end, smooth on the other. He also carries a dagger made out of the same material as the boomerang, though it looks like its uses run more toward skinning than stabbing.

Powers/abilities, special stuff: None. Sokka is 100% human, and PROUD OF IT. He is, however, amazingly quick at comprehending complicated situations - or at least machinery.

Beliefs, what does he know and need to know: Sokka knows he will protect his family; the Avatar needs to save the world; the Fire Nation is Bad with a capital 'B.' Sokka needs to know his family can protect itself; there are exceptions to the Fire Nation is Bad rule.

What problem, why does this problem hurt?: Sokka blames the Fire Nation for pretty much all his woes and angst-- and he isn't entirely wrong here. During a raid on the South Pole, most of his tribe was killed by the Fire Nation, including his own mother. While Sokka didn't see her death itself, he saw the aftermath, he saw the dwindling numbers of his people, and he saw the impact it had on them all. Two years later, his father and the other men of the tribe left the village to continue fighting the Fire Nation. Sokka was too young to go along, though he tried to, and was left behind after his father made him promise to look after his sister. Without his father there, Sokka never actually passed the rites of his tribe and was not technically considered a man until later when he, Katara, and Aang stumbled upon Bato, one of the men who had left with their father and was injured and left behind. Bato led him through the ceremony - not his father. Sokka has grown up during the tail end of a war between the Fire Nation and the rest of the world as the single nation tries to dominate the world itself, going to such lengths as wiping out the entirety of the Air Nomads. As such, Sokka really doesn't have anything good to say about the Fire Nation. ...Except it's technology. But he'd rather study it than let them have it.

Fatal Flaw: Sokka doesn't like change. He understands how the world works in the way that he was taught and he doesn't like being taken out of his comfort zone. He is not an easy man to argue with, more inclined to stick his fingers in his ears and sing if he doesn't like what's being said than actually sit down and try to puzzle it out. He is stubborn and opinionated on certain issues and nearly impossible to sway.

Fears: The Fire Nation as a whole, any Firebender, their victory, Aang's loss, being unable to protect his family, his sister, like he promised he would.

Sources of Anger: Being taken out of his comfort zone, being challenged, being shown-up.

Sources of Sadness: Feeling worthless, like he let his family down, Yue (also, the moon).

Sources of Happiness: His sister, Aang, machinery, being useful (catching something to eat, pitching the tent, etc.)

What does he need: A more open mind in terms of the Fire Nation.

Need to Learn: No one is perfect, all evil, or all good. There are exceptions to all rules and no one can escape every mistake.

Need to say: "I trust you" "I'm sorry" "Please."

Emotional Problem: Sense of duty and honor to his father and the rest of his family; feeling useless about being left behind by his own father, told he wasn't old enough; getting beat down so easily by Prince Zuko on their first meeting; losing Yue - Sokka, overall, has a tendency to feel completely and utterly useless, but he refuses to let others see this and does his best to rise above this feeling as best he can.
